Why is Townfall $49.99? What was said

No official reason for the price was found. What exists is what surrounds it: a stated first-playthrough length of 10 to 14 hours, and official copy that calls the game full-length and self-contained.

The question

Why does a full Silent Hill game list at $49.99 for Standard on Steam’s US store? The idea that this is low rests on a comparison with earlier Silent Hill prices, and the only place that comparison turns up here is one outlet’s report, below.

What is known

The director’s length estimate, as One More Game reports it from a media event:

We consider it a full-length game, and we reckon the 1st playthrough is anywhere between 10 and 14 hours, depending on how you play.

Jon McKellan, writer and director. Reported by One More Game: first playthrough length

The official product copy on Steam, Annapurna and Screen Burn describes it as a full-length, self-contained psychological horror. Worded on Steam store data (appdetails)

Steam’s US store and the PlayStation Store’s US page list the same two amounts, $49.99 and $59.99. Listed on PlayStation Store (US) The other regions are on the price table.

GamingBolt relays three further points: Best Buy in the US listed the PS5 version at $49.99 before any digital store took pre-orders, Konami had not confirmed a price at that point, and Annapurna’s Leanne Loombe called the game full-length and high-quality. It adds that the last two Silent Hill releases retailed for more. Only GamingBolt reports these here, and its Loombe line is not traced to an original. Relayed by GamingBolt: $50 per Best Buy

  • A statement from Konami, Annapurna or Screen Burn explaining the price.
  • Any statement from the makers that ties the price to the length.
  • Who set the Best Buy listing, or whether it came from the publisher.

Where the length figure goes next

The 10 to 14 hours is the director’s estimate for a first playthrough, not a promise about every run. How that compares with the timings outlets reported after playing is on the length page. Review scores do not explain the price either, but readers who ask about one often want the other, and they are listed on the review page.
