Silent Hill: Townfall on PS5

PS5 is the only console at launch, and the PlayStation Store page carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced tag. Each store region unlocks at its own local midnight.

Four PS5 features, numbered

1Adaptive triggers2Haptic feedback3Motion controls43D audio
How to read: the number on each callout is the number of the note below it. The outline is a generic gamepad shape, chosen to show where each feature sits and not to depict any real controller. Original diagram for this site.
1 · Adaptive triggersPlayStation’s site says the weight of your weapon and the force needed to defend yourself are recreated in the DualSense’s adaptive triggers. The store lists the game as playable without that trigger effect.
2 · Haptic feedbackThe same page says haptics let you sense the footsteps of approaching enemies through the controller. The store also lists the game as playable without controller vibration.
3 · Motion controlsPlayStation’s site pairs haptics with motion: rotate the CRTV with motion controls to solve puzzles. Playable without motion controls is listed too. The in-game device is covered on the CRTV page.
4 · 3D audioNamed on PlayStation’s site through built-in TV speakers or analogue and USB stereo headphones, with setup required. All four on PlayStation.com game page

Two frame modes, and the Pro tag

Quality30FPSPerformance60FPS
How to read: bar length is frames per second, so the Performance bar is exactly twice the Quality bar. It shows a ratio and says nothing about resolution. Original diagram for this site.

PlayStation.Blog says the game sports both a 30FPS Quality setting and 60FPS Performance setting. Its hands-on report adds that the Pro version uses PSSR upscaling, and the store page carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced tag. From PlayStation.Blog: hands-on report Tag on PlayStation Store (US) The PC counterpart of these performance targets is on the system requirements page, with a separate 75 GB figure from Steam that says nothing about the PS5 download.

Not confirmed: size, preload, resolution

Only outlets relaying a community account report a size and a preload. The account, PlayStation Game Size, is not an official PlayStation channel. As relayed, the PS5 download is 51.172 GB, and preload opens earlier for Deluxe than for Standard. The PlayStation Store page states neither: Not found. Relayed by TwistedVoxel: download size and preload date

Internal resolution: two outlets give pixel figures that contradict each other, and neither is first-party, so none is given here.

The Deluxe rows are inferred from the 48-hour head start and are marked that way; the reasoning is on the early access page. The same six stores in every time zone, next to Steam, are on the unlock time page.

One player, and the boxed copy

The store page lists 1 player with offline play enabled, which matches Steam’s single-player category; what that does and does not settle is on the multiplayer page. On the boxed side, Amazon UK lists a Day One Edition Steelbook Bundle for PS5 with two CRTV skins as its bonus; that listing is written up on the steelbook page, and other boxed formats on the physical copy page. Listing: Amazon UK: Day One Edition Steelbook Bundle (PS5)

The PlayStation Store lists two CRTV skins as the standard pre-order bonus, where Steam’s page lists one. No source explains the gap; the wording of each is on the pre-order bonus page.

What would change this page

A PS4 listing, another console named on the store page, a first-party preload or size figure, or a resolution statement from Konami or Screen Burn. Xbox and the rest of the console wait are on the Xbox page, and every platform row is on the platform board.
