How many endings does Silent Hill: Townfall have?
This page names the endings and reports what the guides say triggers them. It does not describe what happens in any of them. The names and triggers sit in a closed fold near the bottom. Everything above it is the count and the wording.
Five. PowerPyx’s trophy list has one trophy per ending, three you can reach on a first playthrough and two that only New Game Plus opens, and Steam’s achievement list carries the same five names. Before release the director counted five and the producer’s wording added up to four; the lists settle it. Steam’s list: Steam global achievement stats · PlayStation list, via PowerPyx: trophy list

Five, or four?
Polygon reports the director confirming five endings at a press event. Reported by Polygon: the director on five endings
“There are 3 main endings to the story and 2 secret endings.”
Quoted in One More Game: five endings
Vice and GameRant give the same three-plus-two split and put the two secret endings in New Game Plus. Collider also reports five and says extra playthroughs are needed to see them all. Said in Vice: story length and five endings · Said in Game Rant: all endings and how to unlock them · Said in Collider: five endings, none canon
Motoi Okamoto, the Konami producer, wrote it this way in PlayStation.Blog’s interview:
“All three main endings can be reached right from your first playthrough, whereas the secret ending becomes accessible after clearing the game once”
Motoi Okamoto, series producer at Konami. From PlayStation.Blog: the developers on the Scottish setting
He says “the secret ending” in the singular.
Three plus one is four, not five. The trophy lists that went up at release name five ending trophies, three for a first run and two for New Game Plus, which matches the director’s count.
How the ending is decided
Not by one choice. McKellan told Polygon “Nothing is an A/B choice.” He describes the ending as the sum of how you played as Simon. The Steam page’s summary is short: “Endings shaped by the player’s actions”. Listed on Steam store page
The guides agree on what that sum is made of: how many enemies you kill, against how many of the 85 clues and documents you pick up, which the game calls Discoveries. Every other collectible leaves the ending alone. Where the documents are counted, with the other collectibles in a checklist, is on the collectibles page. Per PowerPyx: collectible guide
The two New Game Plus endings
Each needs items that only appear in a second run, and one of them plays before the final fight instead of after it. The routes, chapter by chapter, and the button order for the locked hotel door are on the New Game Plus page, which names both endings. Per IGN: endings guide · Timing from PowerPyx: all endings guide
The game is listed as one-player on both stores, so every ending sits inside the same solo campaign; see the multiplayer page for the listings.
No canon ending
“we don’t designate any single ending as the true canon ending”
Motoi Okamoto, series producer at Konami. Reported by Collider: five endings, none canon
Collider reports McKellan agreeing, so neither man marks one of the five as what really happened. How long a second run takes is on the length page, and who Okamoto and McKellan are is on the developer page.

What triggers the first three
Both guides say the first three come down to how many enemies you kill against how many Discoveries you pick up, meaning clues and documents. They word the rule differently, so the two are kept apart on the ruler and in the lists.
- Justice: at least 20 more Discoveries than kills, and no more than 60 kills.
- Forever: just 5 more Discoveries than kills, and no more than 60 kills.
- Abandoned: more kills than Discoveries; passing 60 kills is said to guarantee it.
- Justice: significantly more Discoveries than kills; about 50 kills is fine with about 80 Discoveries.
- Forever: slightly more Discoveries than kills; the guide says how close is not known exactly.
- Abandoned: more kills than Discoveries. No 60-kill line is given.
Said in PowerPyx: all endings guide
Neither is a developer statement. Because kills count, the way you fight matters for this; the fighting and stealth options are on the combat page. The chapters where the two New Game Plus endings are set up are on the chapters page, and every trophy, the ending ones included, is on the trophies page.
